Reiki Information

Reiki by loz offers the traditional Usui System of Reiki.  In the Usui System of Reiki, there are three Degrees - First, Second and Third (or Master) - of training and attunements that a practitioner can attain. With Master's Degree training, which I have, a practitioner learns advanced healing techniques and how to train and attune Reiki practitioners to any level. At present I have taken only the healing part of the Master's training; I do not teach.

The Reiki Principles

The Reiki Principles are what we, as Reiki practitioners, attempt to live by each day. I believe these are worthy aspirations for any human being.

Just for today do not worry

Just for today do not anger

Earn your living honestly

Honour your parents,
       teachers and elders

Show gratitude for every
       living thing

- Dr. Mikao Usui

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient, natural healing art, rediscovered in the late 1800s by Dr. Mikao Usui. The word Reiki itself (pronounced "Ray-Key") is a Japanese word meaning universal life force, or universal life energy. This is the energy that flows through all living things and all around us, throughout the universe.

Reiki is unconditional love....

How Reiki Works for Us

When Reiki is used for healing, it addresses all levels of the being... physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Reiki will go where the recipient needs it most; the practitioner is simply a conduit for the energy. The Reiki practitioner has received attunements to the energy, which results in the practitioner's natural energy channels being cleared, cleansed, and sealed open. The healing Reiki energy will then flow through the palm chakras into the recipient's body. The treatment can be performed hands-on, or from a distance (Second Degree Reiki & up), using symbols.

Reiki will stimulate the body's own natural healing mechanisms, enabling healing to take place at a faster rate than would normally be expected. Reiki also helps to open our minds to the cause(s) of our dis-ease or pain, allowing us to acknowledge and address those issues in our lives that are causing us problems. Reiki cleanses and balances the chakras, leading to a wonderful feeling of balanced wellness, peace and harmony.

Reiki is excellent for lowering stress levels, which frees the mind and body to function at their optimal levels. Reiki is also a wonderful tool for cleansing, clearing and recharging the energy around and within objects (i.e., crystals, gifts, rooms, etc.). Reiki can boost the healing and nutritional powers of medicine; the benefits are maximized, while the less-healthy qualities are minimized. Reiki also boosts the healing and nutritional powers of food; very beneficial if the food has been cooked in a microwave oven. Reiki works as well on plants and animals as it does on people.

The Reiki Experience

Reiki is non-invasive and non-abusive. Most often, a feeling of warmth emanates from the hands of the practitioner. At times coolness has been felt, which in my experience has indicated the presence of inflammation. There may be many different sensations felt during treatment, but pain from the treatment itself is not one of them.

The practitioner simply lays his or her hands on a series of positions on the recipient's body with the intention to heal, and the energy will begin to flow automatically. Painful areas in the body can be addressed directly and relief will be felt. If the pain, however, is caused by an emotional/mental or spiritual issue, Reiki will go to work on that level before the physical level can heal completely.

A feeling of well-being is common during a Reiki treatment. Recipients often drift into a light meditative state, or sometimes sleep. This allows the being to access the energy on a deeper level. By remaining quiet during the treatment, the recipient will receive the energy without distraction. Since the energy from the treatment is universal life energy, the practitioner's personal energy does not affect the recipient, or vice-versa. The practitioner is simply the conduit for the transmission of the energy. Reiki can never harm because without an intention to heal, Reiki will not flow through the palms.

The Reiki hands-on, full-body treatment usually takes from one to one-and-a-half hours, but can be tailored to any length of time depending on the recipient's needs. A distance healing, as well as cleansing and charging of objects, takes 20 to 30 minutes. The distance treatment can also be tailored to individual needs.
